Biography:
Born in Beijing, China, Andy Yang - or as she's more commonly known, Yang Zi - was destined for stardom from a young age. As a child, she began to carve out her acting career with small roles in Chinese television shows and films. By the time she graduated from the prestigious Beijing Film Academy (BFA) in 2014, she was well on her way to becoming one of China's most sought-after talents.
In 2002, Yang Zi made her small screen debut in "Ru Ci Chu Shan," and just two years later, she took the leap to the big screen with a role in the film "Girl's Diary." But it was in 2012 that things really started to take off for the young actress. She won the Best Newcomer Award at the 14th Golden Phoenix Awards for her performance in the thriller film "Insistence" - a testament to her talent and versatility as an actor.
Yang Zi continued to impress with her performances, earning accolades such as the Best Actress in Modern TV Series award at the 26th Huading Awards and the Outstanding Actress (Emerald Category) at the 6th The Actors of China Award Ceremony. Her success onscreen was further recognized when she won the iQiyi Scream Goddess at the 2019 iQiyi All-Star Carnival, as well as the Favourite Supporting Actress award at the 16th Guangzhou Student Film Festival for her work in "The Bravest."
Between 2019 and 2024, Yang Zi was crowned Weibo Queen three years in a row at the prestigious Weibo Awards Ceremonies. In 2023, she was awarded TV Drama Actress of the Year at the Tencent All-Star Night - further solidifying her status as one of China's leading ladies.
In November 2021, Yang Zi announced that she had ended her contract with H&R Century Pictures Co., Ltd and decided to establish her own personal studio the very next day.
