Biography:
Born as Robert William Ragsdale, American actor William Ragsdale embarked on his career after completing his studies in Religion and Humanities at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. His parents kindled his passion for acting by gifting him tuition to the Drama Studio London's American school at Berkeley, California.
Ragsdale gained significant recognition when he portrayed Charley Brewster, a teenage vampire slayer, in the horror-vampire film Fright Night. His onstage accomplishments are equally remarkable; his captivating performances in Neil Simon's plays Biloxi Blues and Brighton Beach Memoirs earned him critical acclaim. These plays are part of Simon's trilogy that concludes with Broadway Bound.
In 1991, Ragsdale starred in the romance comedy Mannequin Two: On the Move and later featured as Herman Brooks for three years on the popular series Herman's Head. He also made brief appearances in television series Judging Amy and portrayed Rob Fields in the short-lived series Grosse Pointe. Ragsdale starred alongside Ellen DeGeneres in the sitcom Ellen before her character revealed her homosexuality.
Throughout his career, William Ragsdale has made numerous guest appearances on television shows, including multi-episode roles on Less Than Perfect, Necessary Roughness, Mistresses, Search Party, and Younger, as well as small feature movie roles. He played Gary Hawkins in 12 episodes of the drama series Justified during its first three seasons and, in 2014, starred as Chris Smith in the remake of Left Behind.
