Biography:
Tyrese Darnell Gibson was born in Los Angeles, California on December 30, 1978. As both an R&B singer and actor, this multitalented artist has left a mark in the entertainment industry. In 1998, Tyrese signed with RCA Records and released his debut single "Nobody Else," which quickly climbed its way into the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This was followed by his self-titled debut album that same year. The record received a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and included another top 40 single, "Sweet Lady."
Tyrese's music career continued to flourish with subsequent albums such as 2000 Watts (2001), I Wanna Go There (2002), Alter Ego (2006) – which saw him adopt the pseudonym Black Ty for a hip-hop exploration, and Open Invitation (2011). The latter received a nomination for Best R&B Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. His sixth album, Black Rose (2015), reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. To date, Tyrese has sold over 4 million singles and albums in the United States alone.
Tyrese's acting career took off with his starring role in John Singleton's coming-of-age hood film, Baby Boy (2001), which introduced him to a wider audience. He then gained further recognition for his portrayal of Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise. In addition to that, he played Robert Epps in the Transformers series and starred alongside Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in Ride Along 2 (2016). His most recent role was in the superhero film Morbius (2022), showcasing his versatility as an actor.
