Biography:

Born Timothy Leonard Dalton Leggett on March 21, 1946 in England, this British actor began his journey to international fame on the stage. He later transitioned to film, making a splash with his debut role as Philip II of France in the historical drama, "The Lion in Winter" (1968). Dalton's career continued to flourish with roles in period films such as "Wuthering Heights," "Cromwell," and "Mary, Queen of Scots."

However, it was his portrayal of the iconic secret agent James Bond that truly catapulted him into global stardom. Dalton became the fourth actor to step into the role in the Eon Productions film series, starring in "The Living Daylights" (1987) and "Licence to Kill" (1989).

Throughout his illustrious career, Dalton has graced both the big screen and television sets. He played Mr. Rochester in the BBC serial adaptation of "Jane Eyre" (1983), Rhett Butler in the CBS miniseries "Scarlett" (1994), Rassilon in the BBC One sci-fi series "Doctor Who" (2009-2010), Sir Malcolm Murray on Showtime's "Penny Dreadful" (2014-2016), and the Chief in the DC Universe / HBO Max superhero series "Doom Patrol" (2019-2021). Most recently, Dalton portrayed Peter Townsend in the fifth season of the critically acclaimed Netflix series "The Crown."
