Biography:

Taika David Cohen, professionally known as Taika Waititi, was born on August 16, 1975, in New Zealand. He is a multi-talented filmmaker who has made waves in the industry with his unique style of quirky comedy films. Besides directing, Waititi has also established himself as an actor and comedian, lending his voice to numerous projects. His impressive portfolio has earned him numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Grammy Award, and recognition from Time magazine which named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2022.

His feature films, Boy (2010) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016), both became top-grossing New Zealand films. In 2003, he directed a short film called Two Cars, One Night that secured him an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. Waititi collaborated with Jemaine Clement on the horror comedy film What We Do in the Shadows (2014), co-writing, co-directing, and starring in it. This film was later adapted into a television series of the same name in 2019, which has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Waititi's extensive directorial portfolio includes superhero films such as Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), as well as the black comedy film Jojo Rabbit (2019). In the latter, he not only directed but also wrote the screenplay and starred in it as an imaginative version of Adolf Hitler. The film received six Academy Award nominations and won Best Adapted Screenplay. Waititi further cemented his success by earning a Grammy Award for producing Jojo Rabbit's soundtrack.

In television, Waititi co-created and produced the comedy-drama series Reservation Dogs. He also took on multiple roles - directing, producing, and starring in the comedy Our Flag Means Death. His involvement in The Mandalorian series saw him not only direct an episode but also voice the character IG-11, earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance.
