Born on July 10th, 1972 in Barranquilla, Colombia, Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara is an actress and model who has made quite the name for herself over the years. With a career spanning several decades, she's not only been a prominent figure in Spanish-language television but also in Hollywood.
In the late 1990s, Sofía rose to fame as the co-host of two popular TV shows on Univision. Her first big break in English came with the film Chasing Papi in 2003. Since then, she has starred in numerous movies and television series, including Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009), for which she received an ALMA Award nomination.
In 2009, Sofía landed the role of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the hit ABC comedy series Modern Family. Her portrayal of this character earned her four Golden Globe Awards nominations and four Primetime Emmy Awards nominations. Additionally, she has been nominated for eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.
