Rowan Sebastian Atkinson, a celebrated English comedian, screenwriter, and actor, is best known for his iconic roles in satirical sketch comedy shows like "Not The Nine O'Clock News" and hilarious sitcoms such as "Blackadder," "Mr. Bean," and "The Thin Blue Line." The Observer ranked him among the 50 funniest actors in British comedy, while a 2005 poll of fellow comedians placed him in their top 50 comedy actors ever.
Born in Consett, County Durham, England, Atkinson was raised as the youngest of four brothers. His parents, Eric Atkinson and Ella May Bainbridge, were married on June 29th, 1945. Sadly, his eldest brother, Paul, passed away in infancy. Rodney, another sibling, is a Eurosceptic economist who came close to winning the UK Independence Party leadership election back in 2000, while Rupert completes their family unit.
