Biography:
Rene Russo, born on February 17th, 1954, is an American actress and former model who began her career as a fashion icon in the vibrant '70s. She graced the covers of esteemed magazines like Vogue and Cosmopolitan before transitioning to the silver screen.
Her film debut came in 1989 with the comedy Major League, but it was throughout the '90s that she truly captured international attention. Russo starred in a series of thrilling action films, such as Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), In the Line of Fire (1993), Outbreak (1995), Get Shorty (1995), Ransom (1996), Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), and The Thomas Crown Affair (1999).
Taking a break from the limelight after the family comedy Yours, Mine & Ours in 2005, Russo made a triumphant return to acting in 2011 with a role that would catapult her career into new realms. She became Frigga, the mother of Thor himself, in the superhero film Thor. Reprising this cherished role in sequels Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), Russo's contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was unforgettable.
Her talent was further showcased in the critically acclaimed crime thriller Nightcrawler in 2014, for which she won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress and received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
