Biography:
Born as Noomi Norén on December 28, 1979, in Istanbul to a Swedish mother and a Spanish father, Noomi Rapace's journey to stardom began in Sweden. She started her acting career with small roles in theatre productions before making her film debut in the Swedish drama "Daisy Diamond" (2007), where she played Anna.
However, it was her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish film adaptations of Stieg Larsson's Millennium series that brought her international fame. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest showcased Rapace's incredible range as an actress, earning her widespread acclaim and numerous awards, including two Nymphe d'Or, a Guldbagge Award, and a Satellite Award for Best Actress. She was also nominated for prestigious awards like the BAFTA, International Emmy, and European Film Awards.
After the success of the Millennium series, Rapace made her mark in Hollywood with roles in movies such as Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), where she played Madame Simza Heron, Ridley Scott's Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), in which she portrayed the central character Elizabeth Shaw. She also starred alongside Liam Neeson in The Drop (2014) as Nadia.
In recent years, Rapace has taken on a variety of roles that have showcased her versatility and talent. She played Raisa Demidova in Child 44 (2015), Beatrice in Dead Man Down (2013), and Leila in Bright (2017). In What Happened to Monday (2017), she took on the challenge of playing seven different roles, each unique from the other. She continued to explore diverse roles with performances in Stockholm (2018), Close (2019), Angel of Mine (2019), Jack Ryan (TV series, 2019), The Secrets We Keep (2020), Lamb (2021), The Trip (2021), and You Won't Be Alone (2022). In Black Crab (2022), Rapace portrays Caroline Edh, adding another complex character to her already impressive repertoire.
