Biography:
Born in Memphis, Tennessee but raised in Mississippi, Morgan Freeman's love for acting began with school plays during his formative years. He pursued this passion by studying theatre arts in Los Angeles and made a name for himself in stage productions early in his career. His breakthrough came in the 1970s when he starred in the children's television series, The Electric Company.
In the following years, Freeman showcased his diverse talents in various film genres including Shakespearean plays like Coriolanus and Julius Caesar. A notable role came with Street Smart (1987) where he played a hustler, earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. This was followed by Glory, Lean on Me, and Driving Miss Daisy in 1989, the latter being his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
Freeman's collaboration with Clint Eastwood began in 1992 with their western revenge film Unforgiven. This was followed by another Academy Award nomination in 1994 for his role in The Shawshank Redemption. He then starred in David Fincher's crime thriller Se7en (1995) and Steven Spielberg's historical drama Amistad (1997).
