Biography:
Born on January 21, 1947 in Drancy, France, Michel Jonasz embarked on an artistic journey that would see him rise to fame as a composer-songwriter, singer and actor. A child of Hungarian immigrant parents, Michel found solace in the arts at an early age, exploring painting, theatre, and music before settling into his role as a pianist.
After working with Vigon and The Lemons, he formed a band called King Set with his friend, guitarist Alain Goldstein, in 1966. Their collaboration led to two radio hits that showcased Michel's unique voice and gift for rhythm: an original composition titled "Apesanteur" (Weightlessness) in 1967 and "Jezebel" in 1968.
Michel's solo career began with a single released at the end of 1968 under the name Michel Kingset, followed by another in 1970 under his own name. It wasn't until 1974 that he found the wider audience he had been seeking, achieving two simultaneous hits ("tubes") with "Dites-Moi" and "Super Nana."
Throughout his career, Michel Jonasz has continued to create a diverse range of compositions, including "La boîte de jazz," "Joueurs de blues," and "Les vacances au bord de la mer." His dedication to the arts, combined with his natural talent, has made him a beloved figure in French music and entertainment.
