Born on April 6, 1955, Michael Rooker is an American actor who has made a name for himself by bringing complex antagonist roles to life. His career took off with his chilling portrayal of the titular character in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986), but it was his role as Merle Dixon on the hit series The Walking Dead (2010-2013) that truly solidified his status in Hollywood.
In addition to his work on the small screen, Rooker has also made a significant impact in the world of blockbuster films. He portrayed Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), reprising his role in the sequels Vol. 2 (2017) and Vol. 3 (2023). His collaboration with director James Gunn, who is also the co-CEO of DC Studios, has led Rooker to appear in all of Gunn's films thus far, including Slither (2006), Super (2010), and The Suicide Squad (2021).
