Biography:
Kim You-jung, also known as "Korea's Little Sister" during her childhood years, is an accomplished South Korean actress hailing from Seoul. She first caught the world's attention when she appeared on screen at just four years old, having been discovered at only five during a contest in which her older sister was participating. Despite not being an official competitor herself, Kim impressed the judges so much that they awarded her with the Most Popular Award.
Throughout her early career, Kim was one of Korea's best-known child actresses after studying at Goyang High School of Arts. She has since transitioned into adult roles and is now widely recognized for her performances in TV dramas such as "Dong Yi," "Moon Embracing the Sun," and "May Queen." These roles have led to her being affectionately dubbed the "Sageuk Fairy" due to her success in historical period dramas.
Her acting talent is clearly a family affair, with her older sister Kim Yeon-jung also being an actress. In 2017, Kim You-jung achieved yet another milestone when she became the youngest person ever to be included in Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list's Top 10 at only 17 years old, ranking eighth overall.
However, her career took a brief hiatus in February 2018 after it was revealed that Kim was diagnosed with dysfunctions of the thyroid gland. Nevertheless, her accomplishments and impact on both the Korean film industry and fans worldwide have solidified her place as a true talent to watch in the years to come.
