Born on March 22, 1971, in Southfield, Michigan, Keegan-Michael Key is a talented American actor and comedian who has made quite the name for himself in the entertainment industry. Raised in Detroit, his roots trace back to an African-American father and European-American mother; however, it was adoption that defined a significant part of his early life.

A brilliant student, Keegan graduated from Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak, Michigan, in 1989. His thirst for knowledge took him further as he pursued an undergraduate degree at the University of Detroit. Later on, his passion for the performing arts led him to earn a Master of Fine Arts at Pennsylvania State University's esteemed School of Theatre. During his time at the University of Detroit Mercy, Keegan became a member of Phi Kappa Theta, a fraternity that would surely witness his exceptional journey ahead.

Key's career took off when he joined the cast of MADtv as a regular performer for six seasons. His undeniable talent caught the attention of the world as he later starred in the critically acclaimed Comedy Central sketch series, Key & Peele, alongside his comedy partner Jordan Peele.
