Biography:

Born as Jyothika Sadanah in Mumbai, India, she rose to fame as an Indian actress known predominantly for her work in Tamil films. With a career that also includes Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi films, Jyothika's journey began with her debut Bollywood role in "Doli Saja Ke Rakhna." She went on to star in the Tamil film "Vaali" and the Telugu film "Tagore," opposite Chiranjeevi.

In a career filled with diverse and challenging roles, Jyothika garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of a blind woman in "Perazhagan," Chandramukhi and Ganga in "Chandramukhi," a mute and deaf girl in "Mozhi," and a middle-aged woman in "36 Vayadhinile." However, it was the success of "Vaali" (1999) and "Kushi" (2000) that truly marked the turning point in her career.

At the peak of her success, Jyothika took on a role as an antagonist in "Pachaikili Muthucharam" (2007). Her talent shone through in numerous successful films such as "Kushi," "Dhool," "Thenali," "Thirumalai," "Dumm Dumm Dumm," "Snegithiye," "Kaaka Kaaka," "Perazhagan," "Chandramukhi," "June R," "Pachaikili Muthucharam," "Mozhi" and "36 Vayadhinile."

In September 2006, Jyothika married actor Suriya, after being together for several years. They have been paired in seven films together. Throughout her career, she has won numerous awards, including three Filmfare Awards, three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, Dinakaran Awards, International Tamil Film Awards, and more. She is also the proud recipient of the prestigious Kalaimamani Award.

After taking a hiatus from acting to focus on her family life, Jyothika made a triumphant comeback in 2015 with "36 Vayadhinile," where she received critical acclaim for her performance. This role earned her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress, making her the first actress to win both the Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Tamil and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.
