Biography:
Jonathan Groff, born on March 26, 1985, is an accomplished American actor and singer who has made a significant impact on both stage and screen. His journey began when he first stepped onto the Broadway stage as Melchior Gabor in the groundbreaking musical Spring Awakening from 2006 to 2008. This breakthrough role earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, making Groff one of the youngest actors ever nominated at just 21 years old.
Returning to Broadway in 2015, he took on the role of King George III in Hamilton, another hit musical that would later garner him another Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Groff's talent extended beyond Broadway as he collaborated with the original cast of Hamilton to win a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
Groff's successful transition from stage to screen began with his film debut in Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock (2009). He then joined the cast of Glee, starring as Jesse St. James, a recurring guest role that added to Groff's burgeoning reputation as a versatile performer.
