Biography:

Sir John Vincent Hurt, a legendary English actor, left an indelible mark on the film industry with a career spanning over five decades. Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, his talents were quickly recognized when he emerged as Richard Rich in A Man for All Seasons (1966).

Hurt's raw talent and skillful portrayals earned him numerous BAFTA nominations: Timothy Evans in 10 Rillington Place (1971) and Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant (1975), with the latter securing his first BAFTA. His role as Caligula in BBC's I, Claudius (1976) further solidified his status as a powerhouse actor.

The prison drama Midnight Express (1978) brought Hurt international fame and accolades, including Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards, along with an Academy Award nomination.
