Born on May 24th, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois, John Christopher Reilly is a versatile American actor known for his remarkable performances spanning across various genres. With a career that started back in the late 80s, Reilly has made a name for himself as a character actor, taking on leading and supporting roles in both independent drama films and studio comedies.
Early in his career, he appeared in Tony Scott's Days of Thunder (1990) and later gained attention through his memorable performances in Paul Thomas Anderson's films such as Hard Eight (1996), Boogie Nights (1997), and Magnolia (1999). Reilly also worked with legendary director Martin Scorsese in Gangs of New York (2002) and The Aviator (2004). His exceptional acting skills were further acknowledged when he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the corresponding Golden Globe Award for his role in the musical film, Chicago (2002).
As he continued to hone his craft, Reilly gained prominence for his roles in comedy films. He played Cal Naughton in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), Dewey Cox in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007), and Dale Doback, one of the two stepbrothers, alongside Will Ferrell in Step Brothers (2008). His comedic talents expanded into television as he co-starred as Dr. Steve Brule in the comedy series Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!
