Biography:

Leati Joseph Anoaʻi, known by his ring name Roman Reigns, is an accomplished American professional wrestler and former football player. Born on May 25th, 1985 in Pensacola, Florida, he grew up as part of the esteemed Anoaʻi wrestling family.

Before embarking on his wrestling career, Anoa'i played college football for Georgia Tech and later had brief stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. He then played a full season for the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos before his release and retirement from football.

In 2010, Anoa'i was signed by WWE and made his main roster debut as Roman Reigns in 2012 as part of The Shield alongside fellow wrestlers Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. As a member of this popular trio, he once held the WWE Tag Team Championship. After disbanding in 2014, Reigns transitioned into singles competition.

WWE attempted to position Reigns as their next "face of the company" from 2014 to 2020; however, this was met with mixed reactions from audiences and critics. Despite this, Reigns still managed to achieve significant victories during this period, winning the WWE Championship three times, the WWE Universal Championship once, the WWE United States Championship and WWE Intercontinental Championship once each, as well as being named Superstar of the Year at the 2014 Slammy Awards. He also won the Royal Rumble match in 2015.

From 2020 to 2024, Reigns was repackaged as a villainous character, which was generally well-received by audiences and critics. During this time, he held both the WWE Championship and Universal Championship simultaneously, earning the title of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. When he lost the Undisputed title at WrestleMania XL, the Universal Championship was retired with Reigns recognized as its final champion.

Throughout his career, Reigns has headlined numerous pay-per-view events, including WWE's flagship event, WrestleMania, a record ten times. He holds the joint record for most eliminations in a Survivor Series match (4) and previously held the record for most eliminations in a Royal Rumble match (12). As WWE's 28th Triple Crown Champion and 17th Grand Slam Champion, Reigns demonstrates his prowess as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world.

In recognition of his talent, Reigns was ranked No. 1 in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's annual PWI 500 list of the top 500 singles wrestlers in both 2016 and 2022.
