Biography:

Born in Mount Vernon, Washington on September 26, 1968, James Caviezel is an accomplished actor known for his versatile roles and commitment to his craft. Starting with small theater productions in Seattle, he eventually earned a Screen Actors Guild card after appearing in the 1991 film My Own Private Idaho. Driven by his passion for acting, James moved to Los Angeles to pursue bigger opportunities.

In 1993, he was offered a scholarship to study at NY's prestigious Juilliard School but chose instead to portray Warren Earp in the 1994 film Wyatt Earp. His dedication paid off when he had a breakthrough performance in Terrence Malick's World War II masterpiece, The Thin Red Line, in 1998.

Despite being offered the role of Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men (2000), James had to decline due to scheduling conflicts with another film. Instead, he starred in Pay It Forward and The Count of Monte Cristo, both released in 2000.

In 2004, James took on the most challenging role of his career - playing Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's controversial film, The Passion of the Christ. This decision came with its fair share of risks, as Gibson had warned Caviezel that taking on such a role would potentially impact his acting career. The challenges didn't end there; during filming, James was struck by lightning, suffered accidents resembling Jesus' scourging, dislocated his shoulder, and battled pneumonia and hypothermia. Despite the difficulties, he considered this experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

From 2011 to 2016, James starred as John Reese, a former CIA agent turned vigilante, in the critically acclaimed CBS drama series Person of Interest. The show received impressive ratings and earned Caviezel two nominations for the People's Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor in 2014 and 2016.

In 2017, James was set to star as a lead character in CBS's SEAL Team series but left the project due to creative differences before production began. He has also lent his voice to multiple documentaries.
