Born on December 21st, 1944, Hwang Jang Lee is a versatile martial artist and actor hailing from South Korea. Rising to fame in the late 70s and early 80s, he became an iconic figure in Asian cinema. His most recognizable roles include Sheng Kuan from the 1978 film "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow" and Wong Chin in the 1981 action-drama "Hitman in the Hand of Buddha."
Despite being born in Korea, young Hwang moved to Osaka, Japan, where he spent his formative years. Eventually, Hwang and his family made their way back to South Korea when he was a teenager. It was there that he began to develop his incredible martial arts skills and delve into the world of film acting.
Hwang's talents did not go unnoticed, as his unique style earned him nicknames such as "Silver Fox" after one of his most popular characters and "Thunderleg" or "Thunderfoot" from his memorable role in the 1978 classic, "Drunken Master."
