Eddie Albert, born Edward Albert Heimberger on April 22, 1906, was an American actor and activist who brought a unique charm to the big screen. Over his long career, he received two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor - in 1954 for Roman Holiday and again in 1973 for The Heartbreak Kid.
Albert's charismatic performances extended beyond film, gracing the stage in legendary productions such as Oklahoma! where he played the lively traveling salesman Ali Hakim. He also delved into television, becoming a beloved figure through his portrayal of Oliver Wendell Douglas on the popular 1960s sitcom Green Acres, and later starring as Frank MacBride in the gripping crime drama Switch during the 1970s.
