Biography:

Donald Wayne Johnson, born on December 15, 1949, is an American actor, producer, director, singer, and songwriter who has captivated audiences for decades. Known best for his role as Det. James "Sonny" Crockett in the iconic 1980s television series Miami Vice, Johnson won a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Drama in 1986, solidifying his status as a major international star.

Before his breakthrough role on Miami Vice, Johnson had been acting on television since the early 1970s. The success of Miami Vice catapulted him into superstardom and earned him numerous awards and nominations. It was during this time that Rolling Stone magazine declared: "No one had more swagger in the Reagan era than Don Johnson."

In between his work on Miami Vice, he appeared in various TV miniseries such as The Long, Hot Summer in 1985 and continued to build upon his successful career. In 1996, he joined forces with Cheech Marin again for the CBS-TV police drama Nash Bridges, playing the lead role of San Francisco Police Department detective, and earned himself another star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame that same year.

Johnson continued to showcase his versatility as an actor in various roles throughout his career, including appearances in films like Tin Cup (1996), Django Unchained (2012), Cold in July (2014), and Knives Out (2019). He also made a cameo in a Nike commercial with NBA superstar LeBron James, reprising his iconic Miami Vice role of Sonny Crockett.

In 2018, he starred as the romantic interest to Jane Fonda's character in the romantic comedy Book Club. In 2021, Johnson appeared on the NBC television series Kenan alongside Kenan Thompson and also reprised his Nash Bridges role in a TV film on USA Network.
