Biography:
Born and raised in Neptune Township, New Jersey, Danny DeVito's journey to Hollywood stardom began when he moved to Manhattan in his early twenties. With a natural talent for comedy, he quickly found success as an actor, making his Broadway debut in the late 1960s.
It wasn't until DeVito landed the role of taxi dispatcher Louie De Palma on the hit TV show Taxi that he became a household name. His portrayal of the grumpy, sarcastic character brought him critical acclaim, earning him not only a Golden Globe but also an Emmy Award.
In 1983, DeVito made his directorial debut with the film Throw Momma from the Train, marking the beginning of a successful career behind the camera as well. Alongside his wife, actress Rhea Perlman, he founded the production company Jersey Films. Together, they produced some of Hollywood's most beloved films, including Pulp Fiction and Garden State.
