Born on November 8, 1967, in San Francisco, California, Courtney Thorne-Smith (standing at a height of 5'6") is an American actress who has left her mark in the entertainment industry through her mesmerizing performances. Best known for playing Alison Parker on Melrose Place, Georgia Thomas on Ally McBeal, and Cheryl Mabel in According to Jim, she also made a lasting impression as Lyndsey McElroy in her recurring role in Two and a Half Men.

Courtney was raised in the suburban town of Menlo Park, just south of San Francisco, where her father, Walter Smith, worked as a computer market researcher and her mother Lora pursued a career as a therapist. Sadly, the couple divorced when Courtney was only seven years old, but she managed to maintain strong bonds with both parents throughout her childhood. She has an older sister, Jennifer, who followed in their mother's footsteps by becoming an advertising executive.

After attending Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton, California, Courtney completed her high school education at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, graduating in 1985. During this time, she was also actively involved with the Ensemble Theater Company in Mill Valley, showcasing her passion for acting early on in her life.
