Biography:
Born on February 7, 1965, Christopher Julius "Chris" Rock III is an American comedian who has made a name for himself as an actor, screenwriter, producer, and director. With his quick wit and sharp humor, he's been hailed by Comedy Central as the 5th greatest stand-up comedian of all time in the US. In addition to this recognition, he was also placed 8th on Channel 4's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups in the UK in 2010, following an earlier ranking of 9th in 2007.
Rock has appeared in a variety of films throughout his career, including roles in "Dogma," "Beverly Hills Ninja," "Lethal Weapon 4," "Nurse Betty," "The Longest Yard," "Bad Company," and even took on the lead role in "Down to Earth." In addition to acting, he has also expanded his talents behind the camera as a writer, director, and starring actor in movies like "Head of State" and "I Think I Love My Wife."
In 2005, Rock ventured into television by executive producing and narrating the UPN comedy series "Everybody Hates Chris," based on his own school days. The show was a critical and ratings success, garnering nominations for a Golden Globe, People's Choice Award, and two Emmy Awards.
In the following years, Rock delved into documentary filmmaking, releasing "Good Hair" in 2009, which examined hair issues within the African-American community. He then moved on to work on another documentary project called "Credit is the Devil," exploring the topic of debt. In 2010, he starred alongside Adam Sandler in the film "Grown-Ups" and with fellow comedian Martin Lawrence in a remake of the British film "Death at a Funeral."
