Biography:

Cecily Legler Strong was born on February 8, 1984, in Springfield, Illinois, but grew up in Oak Park, a suburb just outside Chicago. She is the daughter of Penelope and William "Bill" Strong, with her father working as an Associated Press bureau chief before becoming a managing partner at a Chicago public relations firm. Despite her parents' eventual divorce, Cecily found solace in her love for comedy and acting from a young age.

Raised on Saturday Night Live (SNL), Cecily spent countless hours reenacting sketches with friends and watching old SNL commercials on VHS tapes. She was particularly inspired by the late Phil Hartman, one of SNL's most beloved cast members. After completing her high school education at Oak Park and River Forest High School and later transferring to Chicago Academy for the Arts, Cecily pursued a formal acting education at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). She graduated in 2006 with a BFA in theatre.

Returning to Chicago after graduation, Cecily continued to hone her craft by studying at the esteemed Second City Conservatory and iO Chicago. Her dedication and talent eventually paid off when she joined the cast of SNL in 2012. As a part of this iconic show, Cecily has brought laughter and entertainment to audiences around the world with her exceptional comedic timing and versatile acting skills.
