Biography:
Born as Brittany Anne Bertolotti in Atlanta, the young actress later moved to Los Angeles with dreams of making it big in Hollywood. Her big break came when she was cast as Tai Frasier in the iconic 1995 teen comedy, Clueless. Following that, Murphy continued to work on a range of independent films such as Freeway (1996) and Bongwater (1998).
In 1997, Brittany made her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge. The following year, she starred alongside Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted (1999), a film that would solidify her place in Hollywood, and also appeared in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999).
In the new millennium, Murphy's career continued to flourish. She played opposite Michael Douglas in Don't Say a Word (2001) and shared screen time with Eminem in 8 Mile (2002), a role that gained her significant critical acclaim. She then appeared in Riding in Cars with Boys (2001), Spun (2002), Just Married (2003), Uptown Girls (2003), and Sin City (2005). Murphy's voice also graced the animated television series King of the Hill, where she played Luanne Platter from 1997 to 2010.
Her final film, Something Wicked, released in April 2014, left behind a legacy of an actress who was passionate about her craft and brought life to every character she portrayed.
