Brian Manion Dennehy was a highly versatile American actor known for his captivating performances on screen, stage, and television. Born and raised in New York City, his illustrious career took him from the Big Apple to Hollywood and back again.
Dennehy's breakthrough role came in 1982 when he starred as the stern and overzealous Sheriff Will Teasle in First Blood, opposite Sylvester Stallone. He proved his range and versatility by taking on complex roles that ranged from villainous to virtuous characters. In 1985 alone, Dennehy appeared as a corrupt sheriff in the western Silverado and portrayed a benevolent alien leader in the sci-fi classic Cocoon.
