Biography:
Nora Lum, better known to us as Awkwafina, was born on June 2nd, 1988. She has made quite a name for herself in the worlds of acting, comedy and rapping, but let's take a closer look at her journey.
Awkwafina first gained recognition in 2012 when she released her rap song "My Vag." This catchy tune quickly became popular on YouTube, propelling her into the limelight. She didn't stop there though - in 2014 she released her debut album, Yellow Ranger, and even appeared on MTV's comedy series Girl Code from 2014 to 2015.
But Awkwafina didn't just stick to music; she also ventured into films. She landed supporting roles in several comedies like Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), Ocean's 8 (2018), Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). Her performance as a grieving young woman in The Farewell (2019) was particularly memorable, earning her a Golden Globe Award.
Since 2020, Awkwafina has been co-creator, writer, and executive producer of the Comedy Central series Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. Here, she plays a fictionalized version of herself, showcasing her talent both in front of and behind the camera.
