Biography:
Born on September 2, 1961, as Anthony Perry to a British father and a Chinese mother, Anthony Wong Chau-Sang grew up in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, his father abandoned the family when he was just four years old. Despite this early challenge, young Anthony found solace in acting. He received training at ATV before enrolling at the prestigious Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
After honing his craft in various television series, Wong's big break arrived with hit films such as "Hard-Boiled," "When Fortune Smiles," and the Golden Horse Award-winning role in Herman Yau's chilling "The Untold Story." In 1995, he ventured behind the camera to make his directorial debut with the film "New Tenant."
In 1996, Wong reunited with director Herman Yau for a cult classic horror film, "Ebola Syndrome." His portrayal of the corrupt police officer Tung in the critically acclaimed "Beast Cops" (1998) earned him his second Hong Kong Film Award.
Throughout his illustrious career, Wong has appeared in numerous films, including the "Young and Dangerous" franchise, "The Mission" (1999), "Infernal Affairs" (2002), "Initial D" (2005), "Exiled" (2006), "Secret" (2007), "Ip Man: The Final Fight" (2013), "Still Human" (2018), and the 2022 release, "The Sunny Side of the Street." With nearly 300 screen credits to his name, Wong is revered as one of the most versatile and prolific actors in world cinema.
