Biography:
Born and raised in Amritsar, Punjab, Akshay Kumar is an Indian actor, producer, and martial artist who has graced over a hundred Hindi films. Kicking off his acting career in the 90s, Akshay quickly gained recognition as an action hero, starring in the popular "Khiladi series" - Khiladi (1992), Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995), Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), and Khiladi 420 (2000). Notably, he also starred in the action hit, Mohra (1994), where his stunts often echoed those of Jackie Chan.
As the years went by, Akshay's range expanded to embrace drama, romance, and comedy roles with equal ease. His romantic performances in Yeh Dillagi (1994) and Dhadkan (2000), as well as his dramatic flair in Ek Rishtaa (2001), garnered him much praise. However, it was his comic timing that truly won the hearts of audiences. Starring in hits like Hera Pheri (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Garam Masala (2005) and Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005), Akshay's comic performances solidified his status as one of Bollywood's leading men.
In 2007, the actor starred in four consecutive commercial hits, further solidifying his success. His talents have been recognized internationally too - in 2008, the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Law on Akshay for his contributions to Indian cinema. The Government of India followed suit in 2009, awarding him the Padma Shri.
