Biography:
Born on March 12th, 1968 in Cupertino, California, Aaron Edward Eckhart was destined for greatness. However, his early life took him on a winding path before he found his true calling as an actor. When his father relocated the family to the United Kingdom at a young age, he faced numerous challenges but managed to find solace in performing arts.
Eckhart's journey began with school plays and continued when he spent his senior year of high school in Australia. Though he left high school without graduating, he persevered and earned a diploma through a professional education course. He later attended Brigham Young University (BYU) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in film in 1994.
During his time at BYU, Eckhart crossed paths with director and writer Neil LaBute, who would have an instrumental role in shaping the actor's career. LaBute cast him in several of his original plays, paving the way for Eckhart's transition from stage to screen.
Five years later, Eckhart made his film debut as a smooth yet sinister ladies' man in LaBute's black comedy In the Company of Men (1997). This was followed by roles in LaBute's subsequent films Your Friends & Neighbors (1998), Nurse Betty (2000), and Possession (2002).
Eckhart's breakout performance came when he portrayed George, Julia Robert's love interest, in Steven Soderbergh's critically acclaimed film Erin Brockovich (2000). His talent was further recognized with a Golden Globe nomination for his role as Nick Naylor in Thank You for Smoking in 2006.
In 2008, Eckhart reached new heights when he starred as District Attorney Harvey Dent / Two-Face in the blockbuster Batman film The Dark Knight. His career continued to flourish with roles in a series of films including The Pledge (2001), The Core (2003), Paycheck (2003), Rabbit Hole (2010), Battle: Los Angeles (2011), Olympus Has Fallen (2013) and its sequel London Has Fallen (2016), I, Frankenstein (2014), Sully (2016), Midway (2019) and Line Of Duty (2019).
