Biography:
Born on March 14th, 1965, Aamir Khan has etched his name as one of India's most popular and influential actors in the history of Indian cinema. His journey began at a tender age when he appeared as a child artist in his uncle Nasir Hussain's film Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). However, it wasn't until eleven years later that Aamir transitioned into professional acting with Holi (1984). His big breakthrough came with the movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which marked the beginning of a successful career.
Aamir received his first National Film Award, Special Jury Award, for his role in Raakh (1989). Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he garnered seven nominations before winning his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in Raja Hindustani (1996). He continued to impress with his acting prowess and received another Best Actor award for his role in the Academy Award-nominated film Lagaan, which also marked the debut of his own production company.
After taking a four-year hiatus from acting, Aamir returned in the historical drama Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005), playing the title character. His portrayal of the freedom fighter earned him the Critics Award for Best Performance. He then delved into direction with Taare Zameen Par (2006) and was rewarded with a Filmfare Award for Best Director.
Aamir continued his successful run at the box office with Ghajini (2008), which became the highest-grossing film of that year, followed by 3 Idiots (2009), which broke records and became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time, unadjusted for inflation. The Government of India recognized his contributions towards Indian cinema by honoring him with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010.
