The Legend of Johnny Lingo

In a remote South Pacific island community, an infant boy named Tama arrives unexpectedly aboard a canoe, washed ashore by a storm. Grateful for this apparent gift from the heavens, the tribal chief adopts him and prepares him as his successor. However, when challenges befall their sheltered society, Tama finds himself ostracized and cast out to live with an impoverished single mother and her father, who is a heavy drinker.Despite Mahana's less-than-ideal appearance by societal standards, Tama comes to view her as his true companion.
