In the post-war era of 1947 Britain, as the nation eagerly anticipates the wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip, three unlikely characters find themselves in a curious predicament. Accountant Henry Allardyce, solicitor Frank Lockwood, and Dr. Charles Swaby join forces to defy food rationing by rearing a black-market pig for the celebratory feast. Meanwhile, timid Gilbert Chilvers, under his wife's persuasive influence, decides to steal the prized swine, setting off an unexpected chain of events that leads them on a collision course with the ever-vigilant Inspector Morris Wormold.
