In the lush landscapes of colonial Brazil, amidst the tumultuous relations between the European powers and native tribes, the tale of a French captive unfolds. It is 1594, and the Tupinambás, allied with France, find themselves at odds with the Portuguese-backed Tupiniquins. A Frenchman finds himself taken by the Tupinambás, his attempts to establish his nationality proving futile as they mistakenly believe him to be a compatriot of their enemy. Thus begins a life of servitude for the captive, coupled with an unexpected marital arrangement alongside Seboipepe.
