The River

Tom and Mae Garvey are a devoted Tennessee farming couple who face an uphill battle to protect their land from both natural disasters and human greed. As violent floods threaten their livelihood, they also stand against a ruthless land developer and a local corporation that seeks to foreclose on their farm. Facing these adversities head-on, Tom assumes the role of a scab at a steel mill in order to maintain the financial stability necessary for his family's survival, while Mae remains at home to care for their children and diligently tends to the crops. Through determination, resourcefulness, and unwavering love, they strive to preserve not only their land but also the bond that ties them together amidst overwhelming challenges.
