Noriko’s Dinner Table

The movie revolves around the life of Noriko Shimabara, a teenager escaping the confines of her home in Toyokawa to find solace and connection with Kumiko, the leader of an online bulletin board system called Haikyo.com. As Noriko becomes engrossed in the digital community, she unwittingly enters a world that begins to reveal its sinister undertones as it unravels around her. The film explores themes of isolation and desperation in today's digital age, as well as the consequences of virtual relationships and communities. A chilling thread runs through the narrative when Kumiko's family circle is plunged into darkness following a mass suicide involving 54 high school girls. Through Noriko's experiences, we see how the allure of online connections can lead to haunting realities, blurring the lines between reality and virtual existence.
