Aoi's life takes an unexpected turn after she loses her beloved grandfather, who had been able to see spirit creatures called ayakashi. Following his demise, she is confronted by a formidable ogre that demands payment for her grandfather's unresolved debt. Surprisingly, the ogre requests an even more staggering settlement: Aoi's hand in marriage. Unwilling to accept such a preposterous proposition, Aoi seeks another way to settle the debt and comes across the Tenjin-ya bed and breakfast for ayakashi. Here, she embarks on an extraordinary journey, learning about the spirit world while working alongside otherworldly guests, each with their own quirks and tales, ultimately discovering the true value of friendship and responsibility.
