Description:
In June 1940, amidst the pomp of Nazi propaganda celebrating their recent victory over France, Anna and Otto Quangel's lives take a tragic turn when they lose their son in the war. The couple, who had once believed wholeheartedly in the 'Führer', now slowly come to terms with the bitter reality of deception and lies that the regime is built upon. As an act of defiance against this oppressive system, Anna and Otto start writing postcards, urging people to resist, stop the war, and bring down Hitler. These small pieces of paper become their voice of dissent; a symbol of hope amidst the darkness enveloping them. Distributing these cards in public places puts them squarely in the crosshairs of the SS and Gestapo, who are always one step ahead. Even more daunting is the unpredictability of their neighbors, where trust can be as fleeting as a whispered secret. The film follows this working-class couple's brave journey, exposing the tension between the public face of Nazi victory and the private struggles of individuals grappling with the brutality and deception of their regime.
