In a world where magical girls have been saved from an ominous fate by a selfless act, the darkness persists in new forms. When Madoka rewrites reality, eliminating witches and offering salvation to all magical beings, she sacrifices her own happiness and normal life. Although despair vanishes, its insidious manifestations return as nightmares, haunting the now-safe magical girls.
