A clandestine sporting event takes place within the confines of a German POW camp during WWII, housing Poles but also French and British prisoners. Amidst the tensions and hardships of war, an unlikely alliance forms between a German lieutenant and a Polish prisoner who had competed against each other in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Although initially resistant to the idea, the Polish prisoner proposes an undercover Olympiad among the prisoners, creating flags, medals, and organizing various races. A comical situation arises when a German guard unwittingly assists in hosting a croaking hop race that inadvertently turns into a form of torture. Despite the lieutenant's growing suspicions and the eventual transfer of the Polish chief to a concentration camp, the prisoners continue their secret sporting endeavor, defying orders and fostering unity amidst adversity.
